WHAT MODELS OR TECHNIQUES DO YOU USE?

Throughout my career as a therapist, supervisor, manager, and instructor I have gained extensive practice knowledge related to clinical risk assessment and safety planning, the Oregon mental health system of care, and therapeutic interventions to support individuals across the lifespan. I offer direct social work practice experience providing services in various clinical settings, having worked with clients experiencing a wide array of mental health symptomatology, from early childhood through aging, and with groups, couples, and families of various identities.

My theoretical approach has been influenced by my facilitation of adolescent trauma-focused CBT groups in post-katrina New Orleans, creation of genograms with parents in Troutdale focused on dynamics of intergenerational neglect, narrative re-authoring of suicidal teens’ experiences, and reflection of countertransference with seasoned therapists in supervision. My primary approach integrates narrative and existential psychotherapy as I practice storytelling and encourage each client to reflect on their own meaning-making. I hope to highlight the importance of centering intersectional identity and how identity impacts the complex interactions we experience in our lives. Each client situation and is impacted by the various dynamics of privilege and oppression presenting in our relationships, our work, and in the therapeutic relationship.
